TEDxBristol

Black Girl Convention and TEDxBristol were seeking inspiring stories that could become great talks for their two November 2019 events!

THE WORKSHOP

At BGC we believe everyone has a tale to tell. We teamed up with TEDxBristol to bring our audience an intimate workshop designed to help attendees find the heart of their story; and to share some practical tools and tips for public speaking and delivering a powerful talk.

BGC Founder Dr Mena Fombo spoke at TEDxBristol 2017, with her inspiring talk 'No. You Cannot Touch My Hair', to an audience of over 2000 people. Dr Mena’s talk has since gone on to receive over 400,000 views and is now featured on the main TED.com website! It has also been used as part of equality and diversity training, in schools, colleges, universities and businesses.

Mena shared her story and hosted this event.  She also co-delivered speaker training with regular TEDxBristol trainers Hodos Consultancy and Creative Director, Mel Rodrigues who shared what TEDxBristol looks for in a speaker.

Following this event two amazing women who spoke at BGC 2018 went on to get selected to speak at TEDx Bristol 2019 - Tanya Muneera Williams and Tegan Vincent Cooke, with additional attendees gaining slots to speak at BGC 2019!
